Deputy Eric Albright & Belgian Malinois "ASTRA"

K-9 "ASTRA" was a 7 year old Belgian Malinois who passed away to a brain tumor in March of 2005. Astra was Centre County Pennsylvania's first explosive detection K-9. She was aquired through the U.S. Military and was brought to Central Pennsylvania from Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas. Astra and her handler, Deputy Albright, were certified through the North American Police Working Dog Association in the detection of more than 15 different explosive odors. Astra will be truly missed by all, but will be replaced by the end of 2005 through the help of grants secured from the Federal Government and Milkbone, Inc.
